Terms of Use

1. Using Gift a Map

Gift a Map (giftamap.com) is made by Hypermaps. By using it, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to make a payment where you live, or have a parent’s permission, to buy extras.

2. Your account

You can start a map without an account. To send one, or to open one sent to you, you sign in with Google. Use your own account and do not share access with anyone else. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

You can sign out at any time and ask us to delete your account by writing to hey@hypermaps.world. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or is used to harm the service or other people.

3. Your maps and gift links

What you write and draw stays yours. You let us store it, show it to you and deliver it to the person you send it to, which is all we use it for. Only put in what you have the right to share, and do not use a gift to harass, threaten or deceive anyone.

Each wrapped gift gets one private link. The first person to open it with a Google account receives the map, and nobody else can open it after them, so send the link only to the person it is for.

4. Place information

Places, addresses and suggestions come from our own data and from OpenStreetMap. Places change, so information may be incomplete, outdated or wrong. Check anything important, including opening hours, prices, safety and accessibility, before relying on it.

5. Prices and payment

Making and sending a map is free. Extras, such as a Collection map look, Stickers or Personal touch, have a price shown in pounds sterling before you pay, and the total appears on your note before you wrap the gift. You pay once per gift, with no subscription.

Payments are processed by Revolut, and Revolut’s terms apply to the payment itself. An extra you pay for belongs to the gift it was bought for and cannot be moved to another gift. We may change prices, but a change never affects a gift you have already paid for.

6. Cancellations and refunds

Extras are digital content, delivered as soon as the gift is wrapped. You can still change your mind: within 14 days of paying, write to hey@hypermaps.world from the email you signed in with, tell us which map, and we will refund the full amount to the card you paid with, within 14 days of your request. You do not need to give a reason.

This does not affect your statutory rights: if an extra is faulty or not as described, write to us and we will put it right, or refund you where the law requires it, even after 14 days.

7. Fair use

You may not:

• break the law, harm others or infringe their rights;
• put someone else’s personal information in a map without their permission;
• interfere with the service or bypass its security, limits or payments;
• send malware, spam or abusive automated traffic; or
• misrepresent Gift a Map or your relationship with it.

8. Our content and map credits

The Gift a Map name, interface, map looks, stickers and original site content belong to Hypermaps or its licensors. Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors. Map tiles come from OpenFreeMap and Stadia Maps, and the Watercolour look uses Stamen Design’s Watercolor style, each under its own licence.

9. Third-party services

Gift a Map relies on services we do not control, including Google sign-in, Revolut checkout and the map apps that give directions. Their terms and privacy practices apply when you use them.

10. Availability and warranties

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We may change, suspend or discontinue features.

11. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Hypermaps is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss arising from your use of the service or reliance on its information. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

12. Changes and contact

We may update these terms as the service changes. The effective date above shows the latest version. For questions, write to hey@hypermaps.world.
